23. Washerwomen
22,5 x 30,1 cm | Hand-watercolor lithograph
The slightest stream, a puddle, a trickle of water hidden in the grass, and there you have the washerwomen. Perched on top of a rock in the middle of a river or squatting in the humid prairie, there they are, all day long, washing, soaping, rinsing the laundry that will be soon to dry and bleach under the scorching Pernambuco sun.
