A beautiful Sunday morning. Father S... has just finished his mass. Dressed in a white cassock, he chats with his parishioners in front of the church, and it’s like a little piece of land of back home, this Gloria church parvis, inserted in a superb sunny Brazilian landscape, on one side, the bay of Rio with the Santos Dumont Airport where airplanes shine on the ground like immense flying fish, on the other side, the Santa Teresa hill with its houses and gardens clinging along its slopes

From below comes the clamor of the Russel street market. It’s a beautiful day. The cicadas sing in the old fig trees.
