Hot night of Paranaguá. The corner bar violently lights up “the street” from where bursts out the screaming of the radio mixed with the laughter of women and sailors partying.

From time to time, these women come get some fresh air on the sidewalk, white, black and mulatto, lightly dressed and outrageously made up.

During the day, they live in the street; innocent like school boarders, they play ball or peteca¹  with the children of the neighborhood.
1. Typical brazilian game of indigenous origins, played with a hand-shuttlecock.
