10. The tabebuia trees of Curitiba
22,8 x 30,3 cm | Hand-watercolor lithograph
It is said that when the tabebuia trees bloom, it’s the end of winter. The tabebuia trees know far more than meteorologists do.
In this country where nothing happens like back home, flowers blossom before leaves bloom. The lacework of leafless branches awakens one morning full of bunches of little golden bells, a joyful enchantment in the spring sun.
Whether a September shower falls or a gust of wind blows, then it’s not only the trees but also the lawns and sidewalks that are covered with a coat of light.
